Recipes with simple preparations, ultimate flavor + peak color
Everything about the months ending in ‘R’ equates to rich, flavorful foods made with ease. Fall to me also means bold natural colors. The colors you see when the leaves are in peak and the harvest is plentiful. Each of these recipes marries simple preparations with the traits I know of fall.
1. Amber’s 5 Ingredient Squash Soup
This soup recipe was shared with me by a good friend and travel companion. She cooks like she travels, exquisitely. There’s not much more to be said on why this soup is a fall favorite. It’s a warming soup. It has the intense color and taste of freshly ripened squash. It only has 5 ingredients. It is everything.

2. Bibb Wedge Salad
I love a robust salad for dinner and this Bibb Wedge Salad checks all of the boxes. The trick is in the quality of the ingredients which makes it a snobby sort of salad. Ultra fresh blue cheese dressing, thick cut butcher bacon, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and pickled red onions for added color and flavor. Just try it, you’ll love it.

3. Baked Brie Puff
Cheese boards are more than an appetizer, sometimes they can be dinner. Most importantly, don’t only make them for company – make them for yourself. Here, the brie is warmed inside a golden puff pastry and filled with fresh cranberry jam and walnuts, for a burst of color and a sweet earthy taste. Serve with fresh apple slices, crackers, nuts and meats. Oh, and yes, your company will devour this dish too!

4. Saffron Cream Chicken Scaloppine
Everything about this dish speaks to your palate. From the intoxicating scent and taste of the saffron, to the golden creamy color of the sauce. This dish is incredibly simple to prepare and presents beautifully. I can guarantee this recipe will become a staple in your rotation.

5. Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal
Who doesn’t love a little pumpkin spice? I’m not much for cooking breakfast, my family is shocked when warm food appears in the morning. This pumpkin spice homemade oatmeal recipe is so quick I can’t resist. The scent is heavenly in the early hours and it’s delicious way to start the day off right.

6. German Potato Salad
German Potato Salad is a favorite in our home any time of year. This recipe is a simple way to serve a warm side dish with subtle color and rich flavor. Because this salad is served warm, be sure to make extra for next day lunch easy heat-up!
